Say Goodbye to Congestion: At Home Remedies for Instant Relief!

Want to know a secret?

Treating seasonal allergy congestion is one of my absolute favorite things I do. It works almost instantly and it can make a believer out of anyone who doubts the efficacy of acupuncture. It’s very satisfying.

But sometimes congestion hits when I’m not around to help. Which is where these tips come in.

  • Buy yourself a jade roller. Trust me. And then do this technique several times a day. Not only does it help with congestion it has cosmetic applications as well.

  • Don’t have a jade roller? Do some acupressure in the same spots I showed you with the jade roller technique. Don’t press too hard!

  • Cut way back on fried, greasy and/or fatty foods. These produce mucus in the body, which is the last thing we want during seasonal allergy season.

  • Steamy Solutions: One of the simplest and most immediate ways to relieve congestion is to indulge in a little steam therapy. Boil some water, pour it into a bowl, and lean over it with a towel draped over your head to create a mini steam tent. Inhale deeply, allowing the warm, moist air to open up your nasal passages. You can also take a hot shower and let the bathroom steam work its magic. Add a couple of drops of any of the following essential oils to increase the benefit: tea tree, peppermint, eucalyptus

  • Stay Hydrated: Sip on warm herbal teas, clear broths, or just plain water throughout the day to keep those fluids flowing.

  • Exercise: Moving our body strengthens the lungs and cardiovascular system, reduces  stress and inflammation as well as gets our Qi circulating properly.

And lastly, come in for an Acupuncture tune up. Or if you don’t like needles, try a Facial Cupping & Gua Sha session. That one will not just clear your sinuses, it’ll give your skin a healthy glow.
