Aim for B-: A Realistic Approach to Well-Being

Dreading coming back from vacation?

Overheard Sunday Night at Trader Joe’s…

“I need another week off.”

We’ve all been there, right? When the dread of returning to the “real world” is palpable. When you’re so burnt out that even time off doesn’t seem to help.

I know I have. I’ve been the person crying at the end of the week because my “real life” felt too overwhelming to return to.

When I think about the biggest catalyst for changing that, it was realizing I needed to stop trying to do it all perfectly. I kissed my 4.0 GPA goodbye and started aiming for a solid B-.

Because aiming for perfection is not only impossible, it’s downright exhausting.

So, what’s the takeaway here? It’s time to show yourself some kindness.

Here are a few tips to help you start:

  1. Prioritize Self-Care: Self-Care doesn’t have to be time consuming or expensive. My go to solution is reading a book (that probably has dragons in it) for 20 minutes before bed.

  2. Learn to Say No: Seriously. You don’t have to do all the things just to make everyone else happy.

  3. Seek Support: Whether it’s chatting with your bestie or coming in for an acu-nap - ask for some help.

For some of you this will be very difficult. You’re used to putting yourself last. If this is you - reach out to me. I’ve been where you are and I know the way out.
