Acupuncture Alleviation: Top Tricks for Tackling Seasonal Allergies
Want to know a little secret?
Treating seasonal allergy congestion is one of my absolute favorite things I do. It works almost instantly and people leave feeling much better than they arrived. It’s very satisfying.
But of course, not everyone can come in for a tune-up, so here are a few tips you can try at home:
Get yourself a jade roller. Trust me. This simple tool can help with congestion and improve your complexion at the same time. Just roll it over your face and neck a few times a day.
Don't have a jade roller? Try some acupressure. There are a few pressure points on your face that can help to relieve congestion. Try massaging the point between your eyebrows or the bridge of your nose.
Cut back on fried, greasy, and fatty foods. These foods can produce mucus in your body, which is the last thing you want during allergy season.
Take an essential oil steam: Bring a pot of water to a boil and then turn off the heat. Let it partially cool so that the water is still steaming but not overly hot. Pour the water into a bowl, put your face over the bowl and cover your head and bowl with a towel. Inhale the steam. Add a couple of drops of any of the following essential oils to increase the benefit: tea tree, peppermint, eucalyptus
Exercise regularly. Exercise helps to strengthen your lungs and cardiovascular system, reduce stress and inflammation, and get your qi circulating properly.
Come in for an acupuncture tune-up. Acupuncture is a great way to relieve allergy symptoms and improve your overall health and well-being. And if you're not into needles, you can try a facial gua sha or cupping session.
I hope these tips help you to get relief from your seasonal allergy congestion!
