Holiday Harmony: Letting Go of Perfect

My friends. It's time for a little heart-to-heart. Why? Because you need a breather.

Let's be real. Every holiday season, you pile on this enormous to-do list on top of your already packed schedule. And then, the pressure to execute it flawlessly creeps in, as if one tiny slip-up could shatter the whole holiday experience for everyone.

Enough.

Let’s try something a bit different this year, shall we?

Let’s be imperfect.

I know, it’s hard to let go of the version of yourself doing it all with aplomb*, but give it a try. And here are some tips to get started.

Prioritize Your Priorities: Make a list of the things that truly matter to you during the holidays. Is it spending quality time with family? Attending a particular gathering? Focus on what brings you the most joy and let go of the rest.

Burn the Cookies: Well, maybe not intentionally, but if your baking adventure doesn’t scream Pinterest perfection, it’s totally fine

Adjust Expectations: Life doesn’t play out like a holiday movie. Understand that things might not go exactly as planned, and that’s totally fine. One of my family’s favorite memories is the year the tree would not stay upright. We still laugh about it until our bellies ache.

Take Breaks and Breathe: Amidst the hustle and bustle, remember to take breaks. Go for a walk, listen to your favorite music, or just take a moment to breathe.

Drop the Guilt: Not everyone thrives in a whirlwind of constant activity. It's perfectly fine to decline an invitation to a party that feels more like an obligation than a source of joy.

If I could wave a wand and grant you all a wish, it would be for a serene, joy-filled holiday season that allows you to step into the New Year feeling rejuvenated rather than drained.

P.S. Still can’t let go of perfection? Text me a message and let me know what’s going on. I can help.

* I’m so excited I got to use the word aplomb in a sentence! I remember teaching it back in my homeschooling days and thinking “who uses this word?”
