Winter Wellness: Taking Time to Recharge

Discover the power of rest.

My Friends - it’s winter, and as we talked about here, it’s time to rest and recharge.

Why? Because this season is associated with your Kidneys*, which is basically the body's energetic backup battery. It houses our reserve energy so that we have what we need in times of stress. But just like an actual battery, it can lose its charge by use. So, it’s crucial to use it wisely, giving them time to recharge. And you guessed it, the best way to do that is to rest during the winter.

Seriously, I can’t stress this enough - it’s time to rest.

But if you need more convincing, let's dive into what happens when that Kidney battery runs low.

Bone and Hair Wellness: Your bone resilience and hair condition have a strong connection with your Kidney energy. Pushing yourself too hard, constantly burning that midnight oil, might speed up hair thinning or loss and weaken those bones of yours.

Brain Vitality: Your Kidney energy plays a pivotal role in memory, concentration, critical thinking, and overall cognitive abilities. When your Kidney energy is balanced and thriving, it significantly contributes to your mental sharpness and intelligence, allowing you to perform at your best

Willpower: Fear is the emotion linked to the Kidneys. Overworked Kidneys can make it easy to slip into anxiety or lack initiative. But when balanced and rested, they give us the strength to stand firm in our convictions.

Our Kidneys? They're powerhouses, and to ensure they get their well-deserved spotlight, I'll be diving deeper into this in the upcoming weeks. For now, how about a nap? You've earned it.

* When I talk about your organs in relation to Acupuncture theory I do not mean your actual physical organ. This is the “energetic organ”. Which means you can have Gallbladder energy without an actual gallbladder. To differentiate what I’m referring to I will always capitalize the energetic organ and keep the physical one in lower case.
