Surviving Spring Part 4: Making a Plan

This week we’re going to talk more about the emotional side of the Liver/Gallbladder. Many people don’t realize that the same channel blockage that causes our hip pain can also cause us to feel irritable and indecisive. We touched on this briefly here. To recap, the Liver is our planner organ. It’s the one that helps us come up with long range plans such as taking a dream vacation or starting toward a major goal like completing a marathon. Whereas our Gallbladder is the organ in charge of getting it done.

When either our Liver or Gallbladder paths get blocked we can feel indecisive, overwhelmed, and easily upset. Often people experience a sense of being “stuck” and not able to move forward. Decisions seem very difficult and in many cases there can be a sense of anxiety over the consequences of any decision that is made. When this happens people can feel very overwhelmed about how to proceed forward.

However in balance we are decisive and calm. As you can imagine, keeping these organs in harmony is critical for us to have the clarity to make plans and the courage to enact them. So how can this balance be achieved?

  • Read this blog about exercise and this one about nutrition

  • Create a vision board to gain insight into your goals and aspirations

  • Get acupuncture - seasonal changes are the best time to get “tuned up”

  • Consider coaching - I offer coaching sessions to help clarify goals, identify obstacles and come up with strategies for overcoming each of them. Coaching is a great way to partner with someone to help us recognize our blind spots and move past them. Coaching sessions are offered both in my Nashua NH office as well as via telehealth.
